The Westwood neighborhood has a diverse population with a vibrant culture. The homes in Westwood consist of smaller, single story post-World War II homes, apartments, affordable housing and a number of newer townhomes. Many resident feel this neighborhood was an afterthought in the City of Denver’s neighborhood planning and many community activists are fighting to change that. A bond was recently passed by voters that will pump $50 million into the community, $37.5 million is earmarked for a recreation center and $12.2 million to bring Morrison Road closer to the community focal point. Recently, the Del Corazon was opened and provides 197 affordable two- and three bedroom apartments.

Restaurants and Culture

Westwood is home to the Westwood Creative District and D3 Arts. This art district creates a welcoming environment for artists and art enthusiasts to experience the vibrant Westwood cultural neighborhood. There are events almost every month and the art is amazing. In addition, the BuCu West Development Association is actively creating a destination neighborhood that promotes and supports entrepreneurs, small business, cultural organizations and residents in an authentic, energetic and colorful environment.

Westwood enjoys its location close to downtown Denver. Major streets in the neighborhood include Alameda, Sheridan, Mississippi, Federal, and Morrison Road.
